Mark Fockele founded The Fockele Garden Company in 1990, and has guided its expansion over the years into five states and a wide variety of landscape disciplines, with an emphasis on a natural style and a sustainable ethic.
He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree, summa cum laude, from the University of the South in 1976 and a J.D. Degree from the University of Chicago in 1980. He is certified as a Green Roof Professional by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities, and as a Rainwater Catchment Professional by the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association.
Mark has invested a large portion of his professional landscaping design time into developing unique and beautiful water features that act as the centerpieces of the gardens developed by the company. He has also developed significant expertise in rainwater harvesting techniques, drought tolerant plantings, and related water technologies that have allowed the company to design, install, and maintain gardens with little or no reliance on potable water supplies. Mark has also taken a leadership role in the design and development of a project that has been accepted as a pilot project by the Sustainable Sites Initiative™.
Many of Mark’s professional relationships with clients go back 10 or 15 years or more, demonstrating the success of company’s integrated design-installation-management approach and its commitment to customer service.
